If possible, send pictures to us so we can properly assess the damage before passing it on to the engineer. We will need the truss number, the broken piece ID (it is labeled on the sealed drawings), the exact location of the break, with measurements either from one end of the truss, or the nearest joint. Here’s what to do:Ĭontact us immediately with as much information as you can. So a truss has a broken piece, or plates that have pulled apart. Doing so will greatly minimize the chances of injury to yourself or the trusses during and after installation. We strongly encourage our customers to thoroughly read the Job-Site package provided on truss delivery before handling the trusses. When they do, it is usually because of mishandling during delivery or while setting the trusses. No one likes to see it, but sometimes trusses break. Return to top of page When Roof Trusses Break

We will of course change the designed code or loading to meet any specific requirement upon request. While we do our best to ensure that the trusses we design meet all the design requirements of the job-site location, it is ultimately the customer’s responsibility to verify that all local codes and requirements are met.
Although we can and do build them, our assembly process is quite manual, which makes them more difficult for us to handle. Īs a small family owned shop, ag trusses are not our specialty. It’s especially important with ag trusses to be sure that appropriate temporary and permanent bracing is installed. The roof is typically framed with purlins of either 2X4 or 2X6, placed flat across the trusses or vertically between the trusses. If you do intend to have a ceiling in your ag building, it’s important to specify that the building will have a ceiling load when requesting a truss quote. We do not recommend greater than 10′ O.C. On Center Spacing on ag trusses can be anything over 2′ O.C. While there are as many variations in ag trusses as in other trusses, ag trusses have one thing in common they are always spaced further than 24″ O.C. MIDAS/Gen has been used for over 10 years and applied to over 4,000 projects successfully, thereby, exhibiting its credibility and stability.Ag trusses, like this 60 footer, are heavy and hard to handle. MIDAS/Gen provides design capabilities using various standards of different countries reflecting conventional as well as unusual design conditions, leading to an Optimal Design.
It is prominent for providing convenience, efficiency, versatility and productivity. MIDAS/Gen offers conventional analysis capabilities as well as other analyses such as Geometric nonlinear analysis reflecting Large Displacement, Boundary nonlinear analysis, Pushover analysis, Construction simulated analysis reflecting time dependent material properties, Heat of hydration analysis, etc.ĭiverse ranges of specialty finite elements in conjunction with the latest theories of structural analyses render accurate and practical results. The user-oriented input/output features and significant analysis capabilities enable the practicing engineers and researchers to readily undertake structural analyses and designs for even complex and large structures. The intuitive User Interface, contemporary Computer Graphics and substantially fast Solver Speed are some of the highlights of MIDAS/Gen. MIDAS/Gen is a Windows-based, general-purpose structural analysis and optimal design system.
